Is a Hi-Fi TV a television that is widescreen (16:9) or a regular TV (4:3)…because i’m going to buy this cord for my tv which is for hi-fi and i’m not sure if the cord will work on my regular (4:3) tv. I want to start recording high quality audio. Should I get a Mac or a digital multitracker?

I’m an amateur musician and I’m in a band, and we’re looking to advance our recording quality. I have heard that digital multitrackers are near studio quality but have also heard that anything you do on a multitracker can also be done on a Mac (well any computer, but Windows PCs are hopeless for music). I have a £1000 (about $2000) budget. Which should I get?
